Our curriculum consists of well-planned, purposeful activities to engage the children totally in the learning process, so that the children enjoy their studies and extra-curricular activities, while steadily progressing in a wholesome manner.
We offer the Primary Years Programme (PYP) of International Baccalaureate at this level. In order to make it more meaningful, we integrate Indian elements and values into it.
For children aged 3-12, the PYP gives us an International Curriculum Model and guidelines in terms of what students should learn, plus the teaching methodologies and assessment strategies. Within these guidelines, we are able to develope the curriculum, the language of instruction and the additional languages taught. This is done in close consultation with the IBO and according to the standards set by them.
The IB Primary Years Programme focuses on holistic development of the child, through six trans-disciplinary themes, plus the spirit of inquiry. The inquiring mind leads the child into various subject areas such as:-
- Who we are- about the Human Race
- Where we are, in the context of place and time- Geography and History
- How we express ourselves- Language, Arts and Culture
- How the world functions- Mathematics, Science and Technology
- How we organize and conduct ourselves- Civic sense
- Sharing the planet- Community sense
The PYP provides purposeful enquiry, which actively involves students in their own learning process. Their classes on these subjects are built around these areas of enquiry and include:-
- Social Studies
- Science and Technology
- Personal, Social and Physical Education
The school is affiliated to the CBSE, This board closely follows the guidelines of the National Curriculum Framework and puts emphasis on the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation system (CCE). For this reason, it is becoming the curriculum of choice all across India.
I-3 Focus is a unique concept that we emphasize on at Rao Harchand Memorial Public School. It combines the three most powerful aspects which contribute to the learning efficiencies of the child.
Intelligence focus is when the student’s core intelligence and flair is identified. The famous Multiple Intelligence Theory, developed by Howard Gardner describes an array of different kinds of intelligences exhibited by human-beings. Gardner suggests that each individual manifests varying levels of these different intelligences, and thus each person has a unique cognitive profile. Everybody can be intelligent, if his/her intelligence is identified and developed correctly. Intelligence focus zooms in on this point.
Inspirational focus is understanding the dreams and aspirations of the children and giving them the support needed to realize them. At Rao Harchand Memorial Public School, we encourage and motivate the children to dream and work towards converting their dreams and wishes into tangible realities.
Individual focus is about giving personalized attention to all students, towards which the first key measure that we take, is to limit the number of students per class. It fosters a transparent and harmonious relationship between the teacher and the child. This also teaches the children the significance of individual focus, and they begin to show and feel empathy, compassion and respect towards the needs and feelings of others.
